Photography and Videography Needs
Your wedding day ranks up there as one of those all important milestones in life. When hiring a wedding photographer here are a few helpful hints. Unlike the work of your other wedding vendors (music, flower arrangements, cake), photographs aren’t things you can hear, smell, taste or even see at times . Sometimes you don’t know what you’re getting until after the wedding. This means careful research regarding professional skills, artistic style and personal demeanor are extra-important when you are choosing a wedding photographer for your Big day.
Before you begin researching photographers, you’ll need to first decide what type of photography style best fits you. This will help determine what kind of photographer you’ll want shooting your wedding. Do any of the following appeal to you?
Traditional wedding photography. This style of photography is characterized by a very formal approach. The images are usually highly posed and will require a good deal of intervention from the photographer.
Contemporary wedding photography. This style is characterized by a far greater degree of informality and a more relaxed approach by the photographer. This can result in a greater level of spontaneity and is capable of capturing the spirit of fun, as well as some of the more formal elements
Reportage or documentary style photography. This style is characterized by an extremely hands-off approach by the photographer who will record the events of your big day as they happen. Most of the time – the photographer will essentially be in the background; you may not even be aware of his or her presence! There will be very little in the way of posing or organizing of individuals and groups. This style is increasingly popular with brides and grooms today. This does allow a lot of freedom of movement and the bride and groom are essentially left to enjoy their big day.
Artistic wedding photography. This is led by the individualism of the ‘Artist’ or photographer. This style is characterized by its ability to produce a unique set of images from your wedding day. Depending on the photographer – there may be a great deal of intervention – or there may be none. The only way to assess if this style suits you is by checking out the portfolios of particular photographers to see if their style has the appeal you are looking for. This type of wedding photography can produce cutting edge and stunning wedding photographs as a superb and individualized record of your wedding day. Artistic wedding photography mayl be considered a little risky by some brides and grooms.
Some wedding photographers use multiple styles. It is a good idea to sit down with the photographer and ask questions and look over previous wedding photos and or his or her portfolio. When it comes to the pictures that will always remind you of your memories during your big day you only want the very best, here is a collection of local photographers that might be just right for your photography needs.
